First Friday in Kenya
Hello everyone! It is 1 PM on Friday and Rico and I are waiting for lunch. We didn't have anything to do today, as Professor Khan is out of town and we don't work weekends, so our assigned task was to read through the stack of materials we've been given about icipe and the push-pull programme. I haven't finished my readings yet, but they are very interesting spanning the topics of former World Food Prize interns, gender, environmental sustainability, program improvements, etc. so I'm excited to spend part of my weekend by the water reading through the materials. Since today was a relaxation day of sorts, I've been able to take everything out of my suitcases and fold/hang my clothing up. I attempted to take a shower but the head is broke, so I ended up taking a bath but it was fine. I promise I will post pics of the room later, as it's nicer than some college dorms I've seen. We're going to walk around the campus after lunch because the weather outside is literally perfect in the 70's and windy. A man named Luke came up to me and asked me if I wanted a tour and I didn't want to be rude so I obliged. He showed me around some of the spots, many of which I had already been to, but he was nice and friendly and I met some other Kenyan colleagues who I may be working with!
