Hot Tea & Flying to London
June 13Distance remaining: 950 km. 1 hour and 10 minutesAltitude: 11277 milesDistance travelled: 5670 km. Ground speed: 1000 km/hrLondon, England: 6:10 AMRussellville, MO: 12:10 AMMy goal is to blog every day and to keep this as updated as possible so that it's like you all are here with me! I'm currently sitting on the beautiful British Airways plane and oh my goodness, I feel like I walked into a palace with wings. Here is what my first feelings are regarding the plane/people:
- (1) The plane is HUGE
- (2) The flight attendants have British accents (yay!)
- (3) It's gorgeous
- (4) FOOD
There's a touch screen in the back of the seat in front of me where I can watch movies and tv shows, play games, listen to music, charge my phone, and see real-time stats of where the plane is, how fast we're going, and how close we are to arrival...all for FREE! My seat reclines and they gave us a blanket, pillow, toothbrush, earphones, and eye covers when we were boarding. Good thing I got a free pair of Beats at Summer Welcome last week because they were very helpful in keeping the noise down! I watched Monsters University, parts of Frozen, two minutes of the newest Star Wars, and a tiny bit of Finding Nemo on the way to London. I kept getting a headache so that explains the short boys and pieces of movies. The food and service is incredible! Dinner was an option of chicken and potatoes or red pepper tortellini and I got the chicken. I got a tray of the chicken meal, strawberry shortcake, crackers and cheese, a roll and bruschetta, a bottle of water, and an empty mug with sugar, milk, pepper/salt, etc. I've always been that weirdo who loves airplane food but I was pleasantly surprised at my dinner and ate almost all of it. The flight attendants came around often to give out new beverages...which surprised me because every airline I've been on has always been so stingy about offering seconds on drinks & pretzels! My favorite was the hot tea (this is British Airways, ya know) and I mixed it with the milk. Despite my efforts, I still managed to burn my tongue once or twice! It's so weird to have just travelled overnight on an airplane! Who does that!? Everyone is starting to wake up now and the lights turned back on. It looks like the flight attendants are beginning to pass out breakfast...I wonder what it will be. Look for my post when I land in LONDON!
