Hello Miss Crown City
Hello, friends! The cat is out of the bag - I am headed to compete for Miss Missouri in under 100 days! I competed for Miss Kansas City a few weeks ago to get my feet wet with competing and came home Miss Crown City 2017.To say I am excited is truly an understatement. My 8-year-old dream is finally, tangibly within reach. I remember watching Miss America with my mom each year, talking about all the beautiful dresses and how poised the contestants were, thinking it was out of reach for me to ever be at the point...but, here I am! I could go to Miss America. Small town Eldon, Missouri farm kid Holly Enowski could be representing our ENTIRE state on the Miss America stage. (honestly this is more so it sinks in for me! I still cannot believe that this is actually happening)So, Miss Missouri, right? I've received lots of questions (keep 'em coming!) since my crowning a little over 3 weeks ago and I love how supportive and interested you all are with my upcoming life adventures!Miss Missouri is a state preliminary to the Miss America Organization, as in Miss America. the televised pageant. the national Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) goodwill ambassador. the confident, leading woman. the whole package. To compete for in the Miss America Organization, you must meet state residency guidelines and be between the ages of 18 and 24, depending on your birthdate. Then, to advance to Miss Missouri, you must win a "local title" by competing in a preliminary local competition. Think Miss Springfield, Miss Kansas City, Miss Metro St Louis, Miss Audrain. A "local" title doesn't necessarily mean it is local to you -- prelims are scattered across our state and for me, one of the closest pageants was in Parkville, MO for Miss KC earlier this month. Unfortunately, there are no local prelim pageants in Mid-Missouri and I am looking to change that!In each pageant, there are 5 areas of competition: Talent, Interview, Fitness, Evening Gown and Onstage Question.
- Talent - I play xylophone! I will be releasing my state piece soon, but I am super excited to share xylophone on the Miss Missouri stage. Talent is also worth the most points during competition.
- Interview - Interview is intense in MAO. The panel interview consists of current events questions, questions from my pre-submitted paperwork, and any miscellaneous questions the judges decide to throw at me. Interview is my favorite part so I am most excited to connect with the judges and share who I am!
- Fitness - Fitness involves walking onstage in a swimsuit. Yay! If only there was a pool to jump into after, am I right? :) Swimsuit is a competition that takes a lot of confidence to compete in, but it has made me a much healthier individual and it is one of my favorites. The judges aren't looking for the skinniest girl or the one who looks like a bikini model, they're looking for someone who is healthy and natural in their own skin.
- Evening Gown - The always memorable evening gown competition is another aspect of competing at Miss Missouri. I will model and walk in an evening gown (stay tuned for sneak peeks on my state selection!) and the judges will assess me and how I connect with the audience while onstage. Who doesn't love beautiful dresses?
- OSQ - The infamous onstage question round! I am pretty excited for onstage question. Talking has always been one of my strengths (thanks FFA) and I am confident in my abilities to answer a question on the fly. Yay for current events and an audience that stares at you!
