Super Last Saturday

When I stood outside the dining area at the Guest House looking onto Lake Victoria, it doesn't seem real that this is the "end of an era" (as Isaac would say) and that tonight was my last dinner, my last Lake Victoria sunset, my last evening lake fly swarm. Today was uneventful, until the evening. I walked outside to find over eight men with fancy uniforms and guns the size of my leg! What is going on. What do I do. After frantically panicking because I had no idea what was going on, I later learned that the governor was here and that these people were "guards". I guess there a seminar involving the governor and him and his guests got to eat dinner early. I didn't even realize it but I guess the governor and his entourage passed me! Because of the whole situation, I ended up missing the sunset this evening but I went out and took a photo instead. Still as pretty as ever. Dinner was stir fry and chapati for the final time and we finished our cake from the night before. We even shared with the few guests that were around this evening and they seemed to enjoy it too. I just finished packing and I have significantly less stuff than I started with so that is good. I'll post pictures tomorrow when I leave of what everything looks like here. It's beautiful. I remember looking out the first night and being so excited. It reminded me of home, and it still does..but in a very different way. It reminds me of my home HERE and the experiences I had on and near Lake Victoria. I'm trying to avoid any type of reflection yet (gotta keep it together!) but I am so lucky to have gotten to live, work, and be here for the past two months. I had the most enriching, challenging, and nourishing experience imaginable with the prettiest background. It's also my dad's birthday today so if you see him tell him happy birthday :)Sigh. I don't want to leave here just yet. Asante sana.
