Last Monday in Mbita

So, the "lasts"are here folks. In less than double digit days, I will be in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. In less than double digit days, I will be on a plane enjoying British accents and British food and hopefully space (hahah in my dreams, right?) and smooth travels. In less than double digit days, I will be the United States and no longer stared at for my skin tone (and being a mzungu). I will be in Texas and then Missouri. In less than double digit days, I will be home. In less than double digits, I will finally see Joey for the first real time this summer. In less than double digits, I will be sweating profusely from the Missouri humidity (how I love/hate it).  In less than double digits, I will take my last Kenyan group workout class and say goodbye to 18 USD for two months of classes/gym time. In less than double digits, I will be safe to swim in the lake and drink from the faucet if I so choose and to brush my teeth in the sink and to take advantage of our awesome water quality. In less than double digits, I will (hopefully!) be eating pizza and hot wings and doing little to help the fitness progress I've made here (one cheat meal will turn into 10, I know it). In less than double digits, I better be seeing my squad, and little pregnant Abbi, and all of my cats and all of my family (that's partially a lie b/c Hunter is in school). In just over the "one" double digits, I will frantically be trying to remember how to drive, on which side, and all of the rules of the road that I've been away from for two months. In just over the "one" double digits, I will be moving into college at a new town at a new school with a new roommate (Lacy!!!!) ready to take on some new adventure with my new jeep. In just over the "one" double digits, I will be adjusting to a new time zone and trying to catch up on sleep (it won't happen, but it could folks)In double digits, I could be competing in my first ever Miss America local! ...........................…......But in less than double digits, I am saying goodbye to this home.I feel so at peace here and with what I've been able to do; as I am really getting into the "heavy work" of writing my report I see that the data could be beneficial in some form for educating these farmers about aflatoxin. In less than double digits, there will be no more chapati and chicken stir fry for dinner, waves crashing against the shore as I go to sleep, mosquito nets around my bed, or paranoia from every mosquito bite. In less than double digits, there will be no more "Miss Holly", no more songs, no more semicolons or spelling lessons, no more learning about Kenyan culture through the eyes of the innocent or butchering (I'm getting better, I promise) Swahili words and names,  no more feeling like a celebrity in front of my kiddos...heck, they won't even be MY kids anymore. In less than double digits, I am back to reality and travel and fears and dreams and not peace. In less than double digits, I am faced with only three days to pack for college, figure out college (?????), prepare for move-in, see my boyfriend, see my friends, see my family, sleep, catch up on the Bachelorette, love my cats, clean my car, get my hair cut, take a shower....with only three days. Talking about it is stressing me out already!I'm trying not to think of the "lasts" as the days come to a close, but it's hard. It's not easy saying goodbye to a place, to kids, and to people that you have come to know, love, and appreciate in a way that no one ever told you you could. Because this is my "last" week in Mbita, I will be blogging every single day. I already miss it here, and yes, I know I haven't left yet. Tonight, I got a smoothie with my typical dinner of stir fry and chapati....and man, it was good!! We watched more Justin Bieber and it was a fun time. I went to the gym today and it was rough, but everyone is so kind and welcoming to the little unathletic mzungu. As I was walking back to the Guest House, some girls started yelling "Miss Holly, Miss Holly" and wanted to say hi. Man, I will MISS that. Goodnight all!Happy final Bachelorette Monday!
